Corpse Reviver #2: A drink to bring the dead back...
Lowertown Barrio’s Corpse Reviver #2 by Chad Larson: 1 oz. North Shore Distiller’s Gin No.11 1 oz. Cointreau 1 oz. Cocchi Americano 1 oz. lemon juice 2 drops absinthe Finally getting to have more than a mere straw full of this drink really opened my eyes to what a balancing act these ingredients were pulling off. The flavor of the gin is muted enough for someone afraid of...

RetroRama! →
One of my top three favorite things in the whole world is totally rad underwear, so I’m pretty excited about May at the History Center. There’s a good chance I’m going to drag you to the Underwear: A Brief History exhibit when it opens on May 7th so you should be excited, too. Then we can look forward to an underwear themed RetroRama! on May 12th. I find it difficult to type...

East Side Story
This month’s Dayton’s Bluff District Forum has an article about a West Side Story adaptation the Coen Brothers are taking on, but instead of NYC it’ll be mostly shot in Dayton’s Bluff and instead of West Side Story it’ll be called East Side Story.  The story’s central drama, a cross-cultural love affair, will bloom between a young Latina woman and a Hmong...

History of Hip: Minnesota Naughty?
Minnesota is home to such icons of wholesomeness as Princess Kay of the Milky Way and Prairie Home Companion, but our great state has a racy side too, as our presenters will note in their exploration of two of Minnesota’s finest risque exports. Sarah Murphy of Grapefruit Moon Gallery will explore the life, times and notable pin-up illustrations of Gil Elvgren (“the Norman Rockwell of...
